The Franklin Institute is hiring a projectionist for their IMAX theater. Founded in honor of America’s first scientist, Benjamin Franklin, The Franklin Institute is one of the oldest and premier centers of science education and development in the country. Today, the Institute continues its dedication to public education and creating a passion for science by offering new and exciting access to science and technology in ways that would dazzle and delight its namesake.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Operates IMAX projection system, including audio and related media. Troubleshoots equipment problems and follows appropriate technical protocol. Works closely with the projection team to ensure technical issues and procedures are communicated and shared. Communicates with appropriate department and museum staff members about delays, change of schedules, and cancelations when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma and minimum of two years’ audiovisual experience in a theater setting required. Candidate must be able to use judgement in assessing emergency troubleshooting needs of highly specialized theater and exhibition equipment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required to work with appropriate staff or vendors when necessary. Must be organized and able to follow precise procedures. Prior film/electronic/audiovisual experience preferred.
