Post Production Updates

Design & Imaging and Cinema & Television were busy updating the post production facilities during your vacation week.

Here’s a breakdown of the changes:

-OSX 10.6.8, Chrome, Office and Adobe CS5.5 underwent routine updates.

-The Advanced Lab is closed for the summer term. 7 of the 8-core Mac Pro’s were shifted into the Basic lab (032),  those machines have the top handles labeled 026. This change was done to allow Chip to shoot instructional videos on how to use the equipment and prep the new HP Z820 machines for Fall deployment (Hello Windows…)

-This is the FINAL term of widescale OSX use for CineTV. Starting in the Fall, only 5 workstations will be running OSX/FCP. Use this term to learn Avid and/or Adobe Premiere Pro. The good news is that we’ll be shifting to Windows 7 using our new HP Z820 machines with 32 gigs of Ram, Quadro 4000 GPU and 12 cores of Sandy Bridge power. Stay tuned for more details about their deployment.

An Evening with Kal Rudman

Wednesday, May 30, 6:30pm – 8:30pm

Mitchell Auditorium, Bossone Research Center (3140 Market St.) (map)

Celebrating the Life and Legacy of a Music Industry and Philanthropy Legend He’s been called the Prophet of Pop, the Round Mound of Sound, and the Big Beat. He’s Kal Rudman – most famously known as the Man with the Golden Ears – and for over four decades he’s run The Friday Morning Quarterback, one of the most influential trade publications in the music industry. Come hear from Kal about his life and times and join us for a special reception afterwards. Learn how this local high school teacher became a legendary music industry mogul and ultimately, a top-level philanthropist.

Kal’s work goes far beyond music. Just ask the students at Drexel University, Temple University, University of the Arts and the Community College of Philadelphia. Kal and his wife Lucille have sponsored innovative programs at these colleges that pave the way for the next generation of media leaders. The Rudmans also support the work of the Police and Fire Departments of Philadelphia, Camden’s Creative Arts Morgan Village Academy Choir and dozens of other deserving groups. From the classroom, to the studio, to the classroom again, Kal Rudman’s passion for music and for the city of Philadelphia has been an inspiration to us all. Hear the Creative Arts Morgan Village Academy Choir perform. Recently back from winning second place in the Young Prague Music Competition in the Czech Republic, they competed against high school and college choirs from eight countries!

FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC Presented by: The Kal and Lucille Rudman Institute for Entertainment Industry Studies (Drexel University) and the Kal and Lucille Rudman Media Production Center (Temple University)
