Since Adobe products are not backwards compatible, it is strongly advised that you hold off on updating your personal computers until this licensing issue is resolved. Tentacle Sync Studio

Tentacle Sync Studio allows you to seamlessly sync video and audio using the Tentacle Sync Timecode Generator system. You can learn more about Tentacle by clicking here.

1There will be a Timecode Workshop on Wednesday, November 28th at 3PM in University Crossings 026.  Learn how to seamlessly sync video and audio for your projects. The Workshop will also cover how to use the newly acquired Tentacle Sync Timecode Generator system. 

Die Hard Holiday Screening

die-hard-51a760318bc58-768x432After a two year hiatus, the annual free holiday screening of Die Hard is back! The screening will be held on Thursday, November 29th at 6:30PM. Free pizza will be served at 6PM. While visiting the office of his estranged wife Holly (Bonnie Bedevil), NYPD officer John McClane (Bruce Willis) takes matters into his own hands when the building is occupied by a group terrorists led by the maniacal Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman). You can watch the trailer here

Free Screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens with David Acord

the-force-awakens-story-gallery-46_5ccff3ceThere will be a free screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Thursday, November 15th at 7PM in the URBN Annex Screening Room, followed by a discussion with Sound Designer David Acord of Skywalker Sound. In addition to The Force Awakens, Acord has worked on films such as Guardians of the Galaxy, The Incredibles, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Free tickets are available in UCROSS 057. 2018 Film & Video Senior Show

The 2018 Film & Video Senior Show will be held on Saturday, June 16th from 11AM to 5PM at the Kimmel Center. This is a great opportunity to see some incredible films that are the result of lots of hard work and dedication by the senior class. Tickets are free! You can get them here

WestPhest 2018!

WestPhest_for_WebsiteGet ready for WestPhest 2018, our annual student film festival brought to you by the Film & Video Program!

WestPhest will be held on Thursday, May 17th in the URBN Annex Screening Room. Doors open at 7PM. Screenings will start at 7:30PM. There will be a pre-screening reception at Landmark starting at 5PM. Food and drinks will be provided. Tickets are $5 each and include entry to both WestPhest and the pre-screening reception.

The categories this year are for films produced in the following classes:  INTERMEDIATE CINEMATOGRAPHY, NARRATIVE, EXPERIMENTAL, INDEPENDENT PROJECT, DOCUMENTARY, PRODUCTION WORKSHOP, ANIMATION, MICROBUDGET, and UNIV 101 (FRESHMAN FILM). The submission fee is $10 for the first film you submit and $5 for an additional film. You will receive one ticket to the festival and pre-screening reception for that first submission, but not the subsequent one. All money goes towards cash prizes.

Three Billboards Screening with Art Director Jesse Rosenthal

14.49-Screen-1_On Thursday, April 12th, There will be a screening of Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing Missouri at 7PM in the URBN Annex Screening Room. There will be a Q&A afterwards with Art Director Jesse Rosenthal. In addition to Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing Missouri, Jesse Art Directed Black Panther, American Hustle, and Trumbo. Don’t miss the opportunity to discuss his work and have him answer your questions about any of his films.

Adobe Media Encoder Bug

adobe-media-encoder-cc-logo-1A17F26DD0-seeklogo.comSome of you may have recently experienced an error message after launching Adobe Media Encoder stating that the program is no longer licensed. There is a bug with the latest version of Media Encoder that is preventing it from communicating with the license server. We are working closely with Adobe Technical Support and Westphal IT to resolve this issue. In the meantime, if you launch Adobe Premiere prior to launching Media Encoder, the bug is corrected and Media Encoder launches fine. Stay tuned for more updates. 

Before Hollywood Screening

59505109305999827-before-hollywood-795x600.fullOn Thursday, April 5th, Executive Producer Sam Katz and Producer/former Philadelphia Inquirer film critic Carrie Rickey will be screening their new documentary, Before Hollywood: Philadelphia and the Birth of the Movies at 6:30pm in the URBN Annex Screening Room. Following the screening, Katz and Rickey will lead a discussion on the film and Philadelphia’s impressive but largely forgotten contributions to American filmmaking. The event is free and open to the public.
