7745138-11990432-jpgWestphal College’s Kal and Lucille Rudman Institute and the African American Museum in Philadelphia present Roots at 40. 2017 marks the 40th anniversary of the extraordinary television series Roots.  This spring, A&E and History aired an equally remarkable remake of Alex Haley’s monumental story.  Join the A&E/History creative team for a screening and conversation about why the story of Roots continues to resonate so powerfully today. Exact time and details to follow in the new year. Ask Karin Curry for more information.

Introducing the Writers Room

The Drexel Cinema & Television Department recently unveiled the new Writers Room (UCROSS 031) available to all students for reservations. The room is equipped with a pegboard to develop storylines, a couch, meeting table, and a Insignia 48″ flatscreen LED TV to display your work. Ask the FMVD Equipment Room about making a reservation.

Introducing Teleprompter Kit to the FMVD Equipment Room

Need help remembering your lines? Use a teleprompter! The FMVD Equipment Room now has a teleprompter kit available to all Cinema & Television students.

PromptDog is a professional telemprompter software program that allows you to control the speed of your scrolling text and make on the spot edits. PromptDog also works with all external monitors and you can save your projects for later.

If you don’t know what DiLA is, this is where you find out how you can spend a summer career building in California! All Sophomores are strongly advised to be there. Freshmen are recommended to attend as well. For Juniors & Seniors who have already done DiLA, please come and share your experiences.

Screenwriting & Playwriting Program Director Matt Kaufhold will be presenting a featured talk as part of the Pennoni Symposium entitled “Water in Film: A Conversation with Professor Matt Kaufhold” Tuesday, November 15th from 4:00PM to 500PM. Adobe Creative Cloud 2015 – hold off on the upgrade at home to maintain compatibility.

Please note that with .0 release, we strongly encourage everyone to hold off on upgrading until all the critical bugs can be patched.  That being said, the computer labs within Westphal College will remain at Adobe Creative Cloud 2014 for the reminder of the summer.  We will, however, upgrade to Adobe Creative Cloud 2015 if/ where possible in the computer labs for the Fall quarter.  In order to maintain compatibility with the computer labs, and to avoid encounter bugs, we would recommend home computers remain at Adobe Creative Cloud 2014 until the Fall quarter.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Westphal IT via support.westphal@drexel.edu
