Welcome back! Hopefully your break was enjoyable. There were quite a few updates in the labs while you were gone. All Mac computers were updated from OS X Mavericks to Yosemite, Adobe CC was updated from 2016 to 2017, Avid Media Composer was updated from 8.5.3 to 8.8.1, Pro Tools was updated from 11.3.1 to 11.3.2, and DaVinci Resolve was updated from 12 to 12.5. Additionally, the CODEX Production Suite has been installed on all Equipment Room laptops in support of the new ARRI cameras. Lastly, a new 4K work station has been unveiled in the Color Grading Lab. As always, if you experience any technical issues you can report the problem here.

Legendary broadcast journalist Tom Brokaw will be visiting Drexel University on Saturday, April 8th at 2:00PM in the URBN Annex. Brokaw anchored NBC Nightly News for more than twenty years. He also hosted The Today Show and Meet the Press, and has published numerous bestselling books. He now serves as a Special Correspondent for NBC News and works on documentaries for other outlets. This is a great opportunity to interact with one of the titans of broadcast journalism.

Ever wonder what it’s like to work for a Major League Baseball Team? The Phillies are hosting their #CollegeSeries at Citizens Bank Park April 10-12. Open to college students and recent graduates, this behind the scenes event includes a chance to participate in a Q&A about the business of baseball, a networking event for internships and ball girl programs, the chance to hear from a Phillies player about their college experience, and includes an exclusive tour of the ball park with a chance to take a #Selfie with the World Series trophies. Since there wasn’t a New Year’s screening of Die Hard this year, the The Mad Martha production team has organized a screening as a send-off to Spring Break. While visiting the office of his estranged wife Holly (Bonnie Bedevil), NYPD officer John McClane (Bruce Willis) takes matters into his own hands when the building is occupied by terrorists. You can watch the trailer here. Bring cash/venmo for snacks and to support the Mad Martha team.

There will be a screening of Annie Hall on Thursday, March 2nd at 9:30PM in UCROSS 030. Neurotic New York comedian Alvie Singer (Wood Allen) reflects on his up and down relationship with Annie Hall (Diane Keaton), a flighty nightclub singer originally from the midwest.

The Entertainment and Arts Society is hosting a live screening of the 89th annual Academy Awards in URBN Annex on Sunday, February 26th. Please join legendary television director/producer Fred Seibert for an upcoming talk & conversation on Tuesday, February 21st at 2-3:30PM in the URBN Annex Screening Room. His background and experiences are sure to excite, as Siebert helped create MTV, relaunched Nickelodeon, and produced shows such as The Powderpuff Girls, The Fairly Oddparents, and Adventure Time. He’s now Chief Creative Officer of WOW! University 101 will hold a screening of The Thousand Eyes of Dr. Mabuse (Die 1000 Augen des Mr. Mabuse). This 1960 German classic was directed by Fritz Lang and tells the story of Inspector Kras (Gert Frobe) and American industrialist Henry Travers (Peter van Eyck) as they investigate a murder and the re-emergence of the long-dead Dr. Mabuse (Wolfgang Preiss). The screening will take place on Friday, February 24th at 7:00PM in UCROSS 028.
