Position Description

The Multimedia Assistant will report to the Creative Director and work within the Communications Department’s creative team to assist the Production and Design Manager and Communications Manager in releasing short videos for social media, episodes for our podcast channels, and graphics content for FIRE’s growing initiatives and social media channels. They will also provide production support for video shoots as well as scheduling and posting social media content.

The duties for this position include, but are not limited to:

– Providing assistance to FIRE’s video editors and collaborating with them on video production and post-production.
– Creating graphics using templates, making short shareable videos, and posting content to social media platforms, including FIRE’s Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, as well as regularly posting content to our “So to Speak” podcast Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram channels.
– Editing podcast interviews between speakers while cleaning up audio and posting podcast episodes on Libsyn, to our podcast hosting service.
– Brainstorming and executing multimedia ideas that will advance FIRE’s mission.
– Helping to organize the creative team’s assets.
– Operating cameras, lights, and other production equipment during photo and video shoots. This will include traveling to locations for recording.
– Learning to edit full-length episodes of our podcast; cleaning up, mixing, and equalizing audio.
– Creating short clips from our podcast episodes to share on social media to attract new listeners and grow our podcast platforms.
– Monitoring and helping to compile metrics.
– Assisting with live-streaming FIRE events and podcasts.
This position will also perform other support functions for the day-to-day operation of FIRE and will frequently collaborate with other staff members and departments on general duties and specialized projects.

This position involves a moderate amount of travel. The expected start date for this position is as soon as possible.

Qualifications
To achieve success, a candidate must be entrepreneurial, organized, and creative. They must also have a good work ethic, be a self-starter, have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and exercise superb independent judgment. Importantly, the candidate must demonstrate a knowledge of, and deep passion for, FIRE’s mission.

A candidate must also be able to demonstrate:

– Up to one year of experience working in a creative environment.
– Knowledge of various social media platforms, such as TikTok, Twitter, and Instagram.
– Some knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite.
– Eagerness to learn equalizing and mixing audio levels in audio editing software.
– The ability to deliver fresh ideas and to work collaboratively to produce content.
– Written and verbal communication skills.
– Competence in organizing project media and the ability to adapt a creative project to meet deadlines.
– Flexibility and creativity during pre-production, production, and post-production of projects.
– A proven ability to successfully collaborate with remote staff members over email and phone.

Salary and Compensation
Starting salary is negotiable and depends upon experience and education level. FIRE conducts periodic evaluations where employees may receive raises or bonuses for outstanding and excellent work.
