WHYY is searching for an experienced Line Producer to join our programming production team. In addition to planning and coordinating a weekly 30 minute program in cooperation with their host, producers and reporters, responsibilities will include managing the day to day physical aspects of the production broadly overseeing story segment and show layout, as well as working with editors photographers, and reporters on settling content and look of the program. Our ideal candidate has 3 years of line producing experience highly collaborative, and creative with a willingness to take initiative, dedicated to the success of the production team.
Responsibilities:
Coordinates with producers, associate producers and the technical staff to ensure all content meets WHYY standards for integrity and production quality.
Must be able to contribute to editorial decisions, build segments and develop story ideas from start to finish.
Support in writing scripts, pre-produced packages, creating graphics element, promos and teases.
Field production experience is a plus.
Must excel in a dynamic environment under deadline pressure
Generate story ideas through research of social media, news wires, websites and contacts
Identify impactful stories that result in provocative, compelling television
Delegate responsibilities as appropriate to associate producers, assignment editors and video editors
Produce timely content under heavy deadline pressure
Coordinate with digital team on web repackaging
Keep current of local events and politics
Schedule and attend weekly story meetings
Plans and implements shooting and editing schedules
Plans and accounts for all costs related to the projects
Maintains a regular and predictable attendance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in communications, journalism, business, or a related field.
Minimum of three years experience in TV production, including editing of video and audio material.
Experience working on short form pieces.
Previous experience preparing content for multimedia platform distribution is required.
Ability to create online video content.
